Peter Moore is Running the 2013 London Marathon in Aid of brooke
Despite crossing the finishing line last year and saying never again a few of us in the office decided to enter the ballot for the 2013 marathon and depending on your view I Peter was the lucky / unlucky one to get a place via the ballot!
Given that I got my place via the ballot it means that I can run for a charity of my choice so this year I have decided to run for a cause close to all of our hearts that of Brooke Cornwell.
For those of you who are not aware of Brooke’s condition she was born with an extremely rare disease known as Diamond Blackfan Anemia which means that Brooke doesn’t make her own red blood cells so she is transfusion dependant ever 3 - 4 week since the day she was born. This is further complicated by the fact that Brookes body cannot get rid of the iron on her own and she has had to have iron chelation therapy for the past 3 years 24/7 365 days a year of which she is the first of her age to have such intense therapy.
Despite this Brooke has always handled everything in her stride and see's the funny side to a lot of things and now with her maturity listens and takes more in regarding her condition. Brooke will be 8 this year with her life expectancy being 12 so you can see why this is such an important cause. Any money raised will go towards her continued treatment and hopefully will allow Brooke to visit America to see a specialist so please dig deep to support this worthy cause.
Unfortunately Brooke does not have a just giving page so donations can be made via paypal under the ‘send money’ tab using the following email address [email protected] or the old fashioned way by making a pledge Peter Moore Sponsor Form 2013 - London Marathon.doc (please save afterwards) or by emailing / telling me or Sarah Brighty in the London office, we will then collect after I have completed the marathon on the 22 April.
As for my target time, I narrowly missed out on completing the marathon under 4hrs last year so my aim is to run under 4 hours this time around.
I appreciate that at this time of year we are all bombarded with requests for sponsorship but hopefully you will be able to make a pledge to this worthy cause.
